Sui Park is a young artist who has worked to modernize Korean ottchil (lacquer) ware. She owns a small studio and shop in the heart of the capital city of Korea, Seoul. She works to inspire people who visit her studio by teaching then to apply the traditional Korean ottchil on many different materials – metal, wood and more.
She makes utilitarian objects and also jewelry using the authentic Korean technique. Her work won the Grand Prize at the Cheongju International Craft Biennale competition in 2012.
Sui Park’s work is in the collection of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Korea and the Korea Ottchil Art Museum.
