Remaining true to the authentic method of creating fabrics and also to making clothes is the focal interest of OMA Space, created by Jiu Jang. Fabrics are created through the authentic weaving technique of Korea and then it is prepared – dyeing, etc. This is then made into clothings.
Jiu Jang has worked with internationally renowned fashion designers such as Michiko Koshino and Alexander McQueen. Her experience with them has enabled her to focus on what is important for making art-like clothing that are comfortable at the same time.
The basis of Jang’s work concentrates on traditional Korea method of preparing and making textiles. Her work is in the collection of Li Edelkoort Paris, France and New York, USA; Helena Bonham Carter, London, UK and Chairwoman Yeonkyun Shin for the Arumjigi Foundation, Seoul, Korea.
