Raising is an ancient technique used to make forms from flat sheet of metal through hammering. The process by which my vessels are created can sometimes be violent, loud, and aggressive. Yet at the same time, through this process, Mini Jo feels that it is sometimes a private, reflective and personal time.
In sharp contrast to the process, the final pieces are calm and still, shy and reserved; the vigor, volatility and energy involved in creation, becomes barely perceptible.
The work is in the collection of Jin-Muk Gallery, China.
